Ripped from the pages of Robert E. Howard's beloved pulp stories, 1982's Conan the Barbarian and its sequel, 1984's Conan the Destroyer, not only popularized a new subgenre - the sword-and-sorcery film - but also made a cinematic icon of the star playing the titular hero, former bodybuilding sensation Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Conan the Barbarian, from maverick filmmaker John Milius, sees the Cimmerian thief and future king rise up from slavery to become an unparalleled and fearsome warrior, intent on vengeance against the evil snake cult that slaughtered his family long ago, led by the shape-shifting sorcerer Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones). In the sequel, helmed by action veteran Richard Fleischer, Conan finds himself escorting a young princess on a quest for a mythical horn that will awaken a slumbering god, battling an onslaught of evil beasts, wizards and cannibals along the way.
At long last, these glorious odes to the days of high adventure have been restored in stunning 4K with hours of bonus features and heart-racing Atmos remixes that immerse you in the action, accompanied throughout by electrifying music scores by the late Basil Poledouris (RoboCop). Great Set!
Arrow did a great job on this Conan set. It is attractive, good extras and the 4K transfer and restoration job is excellent for both films! Great work!

Jewels may lost their lustre but this box set won't!
This box set is truly a gift from Crom (and Arrow) for fans of these fantasy classics. The beautiful transfers are truly vibrant (even on blu ray) helping to make Barbarian look more epic than ever before, while also elevating the fun Destroyer. The extras are bountiful and thankfully port over archive material from previous releases. The packaging, posters and lobby cards reproductions included are also things of beauty. The accompanying book also provides hours of fascinating reading. As someone who first discovered these movies via rented VHS tapes, it's clear that this box set has been a real labour of love. Thank you Arrow!

What a gift from the gods of cinema
So far I've only watched Conan the Destroyer but the picture upgrade from any previous version is absolutely stunning! It's like watching it at the cinema. I'm so happy I bought this and can't wait to see how good Conan the Barbarian looks! A huge success for Arrow Video. Hopefully, this will convince them to put out the definitive version of Excalibur sometime soon. On a smaller note It's great that each release has the original poster art.
